Volume of Water Per Foot of Pipe

To figure the Volume of Water Per Foot of Pipe use the following formula:

p (.5R)2 * 1 (one foot of pipe) * 7.47 (volume of H2O per gallon)

Where:

p = 3.142
R = Inside diameter of pipe (convert to decimal inches)
i.e.I.D. of 1” Sch. 40 = 1.049
1.049 / 12 = .08742

Example:

Volume of 1’ of Sch. 40 pipe =
p (.5 * .08742)2 * 1 * 7.47 = .0448
.045 Rounded to nearest hundred
